I believe that there are those at the top that are delusional, that think that God is on their side but I also believe there are those that know it is all a scam and are only in it because they like the power. I agree with talesin comments that the board of directors treats the organization as a corporation and the bottom line is money, otherwise if they didn't string and control the R&F members around the organization would have been out of business a long time ago.

American Rantings About World Cup Soccer (Football)
by RubaDub ini try ... i really try to watch football (soccer) ... it's world cup time ... i really do try.. i just don't get it ... i really don't.. yes, it's a world-wide sport.
in most countries it is the number 1 or number 2 sport ... no doubt about it.
it's maybe number 5 in the usa for professional sports.. from an american's perspective (i think i speak for many), we just wonder if these guys actually have testicles.

Watching paint dry is as interesting as watching a soccer match.

The genius of the new donation arrangement
by thedepressedsoul inive given this new arrangement a lot of detailed thought and how greatly it benefits the wt and how much it puts a strain on each congregation.. first, let me explain how the old arrangement worked.. you had 3 donation boxes in each kingdom hall.
one for worldwide work, one for kingdom hall construction and one for congregation contributions.. the congregation contribution box accounted for about 60-75% of all donations.
the world wide work box probably accounted for 20-30% and the kingdom hall construction for about 5% of the contributions.

Sounds like it is all to do with control of the finances and the average rank and file dub has no say in where the money goes. Actually even if they did they would all agree like a bunch of mindless sheep. I swear these guys will never get another cent of mine.

My PERSONAL Complaint concerning Jehovah's Witnesses
by fulltimestudent ini was not much more than 16 when i became interested in the jws.
i was an idealistic, unrealistic (read, romantic) kid, concerned at the suffering of so many people as a result of ww2 and its aftermath.. i guess that made me an ideal target for the kingdom message.
but strangely the person who told me about the witnesses wasn't one.. where i worked, we often had quite deep discussions during morning tea breaks, and a non-witness kept bringing up the ideas of the witnesses.

I can relate to what you are saying. A lot of us that grew up pre 1975 went through much the same BS. I learned 20 years ago that you cannot leave this JW cult quietly. The reason is that they do not want ou to influence the rest of your family and friends, otherwise the cult would eventually die.

See? If you were pioneering instead of working your a** off every day, you wouldn't have those problems.
Yeah but when it comes to a little money even those so called "pioneers" change. My pet peve. I worked for over 30 years while my ex was too lazy to help out contribute to the every day costs of runniing a house hold. Her excuse was she was "too tired" but she was not "too tired" to pioneer and bang on doors every day. When we divorced, she gave her "word" that she would not touch my pension. Famous last words but you know I trust a good pioneer JW. Well you know what happened later she put a claim in for part of my pension. Valuble lesson learned when it comes to money you can never trust anyone. Message to ex, I wonder what Jebus, Jevovah and the WTBS think of a lying hypocrate now? Well I guess they will forgive seeing you put in all those hours in banging on doors.

I like how the hypocrates are the first to get a government handout from "Satans" wicked world but won't do their share in ciivic duties like vote.

On a Scale of 1 to 10---How Devoted Were You To Being One of Jehovah's Witnesses?
by minimus inas i grew up in the religion, i was a 10. i wanted to be made a "servant" because that was instilled in me from infancy.
i diligently studied ever piece of watchtower literature and defended my religion intensely.. when i got into my 30's, i started to see little cracks in the watchtower's surface but decided to "wait on jehovah".
then i started to research a little more critically and realized i couldn't defend the prophecies, the treatment of people and the hypocrisy that was becoming more obvious, that especially an elder can see.. it was a gradual thing---from a 10 to a zero!.

I would say that when I was as teenager and young adult, I was as devote as a person could be to the "religion". Much like minimus comments I had much the same feelings. The real eye opener for me was the failed prophecies of 1914, even though I still gave them a chance but the more and more I read and studied the more holes I could see in the WTBS dogma. What I am saying is I did give it a chance as at first as I thought it was just me that was missing something but through scrutiny of their beliefs it just didn't hold up.

I have to agree with the posters in here that said, I may not agree with what you say but I will fight for your right to say it. By banning the "cult" it will only drive some people to it. There are more productive ways in dealing with the WTBS then out right banning them.

The Judicial Committee videos in english
by confusedandalone innot sure if this has been posted but the jwsurvey site received the videos in english from someone.. this crap is pathetic to watch.
how to counsel someone who is suicidal... really.

If it wasn't such a series subject it would be laughable. I went through the same BS 20 years ago. The elders did not care if I was suicidal or not but that the congregation is kept clean away from an evil person such as myself. Makes me wonder how many have commited suicide on this bad advice?
